DataHub WebView Raises Eyebrows at Microsoft Tech·Ed
Positive feedback for DataHub WebView at Microsoft's
premier event for IT professionals and developers
Georgetown, Ontario (July 20, 2011) This spring Ken Collins, Cogent's Architect and
Lead Developer for DataHub WebView, attended Microsoft Tech·Ed
North America 2011 in Atlanta, Georgia, and introduced DataHub
WebView to colleagues, vendors, and the Microsoft Silverlight
product team. Tech·Ed is Microsoft's premier event for IT
professionals and developers, offering comprehensive technical
education across Microsoft's current and soon-to-be-released
suite of products, solutions, tools, and
services.
"This is an extremely knowledgeable group of people," said
Ken, who was a highly-rated speaker at Tech·Ed in 2007
and 2008, and has led teams of professional trainers in the
Hands-On Labs area. "Many participants hold Microsoft
certifications and are experts in their field. The Microsoft
Silverlight product team was very impressed with the finished
appearance of DataHub WebView, and recorded a demonstration for
Microsoft's
Channel 9."
DataHub WebView's innovative application of Silverlight
immediately attracted attention. "I was pleasantly surprised to
see the extent to which data can be visualized," said Enrique
Lima, MCT, Technical Lead for Consulting Services, Apparatus,
Inc. "Having a framework that allows data to be rendered while
maintaining control of a smart system that displays the changes
in real-time is impressive. This implementation places the focus
where it should be, on the data."
"Having worked with multiple manufacturing and utilities
customers in the past, I can see how the WebView tool would be
extremely useful in coming up with easy-to-use, real-time status
monitoring and control systems that would assist instead of
getting in the way," said Mike Bazarewsky, Microsoft Certified
Trainer and Senior Consultant.
On learning about DataHub WebView's XML and XAML support
for custom symbols and third-party controls, several component
vendors expressed interest in partnerships to make their
controls and components available in future versions.
Other attendees recognized DataHub WebView's potential as
a cloud service application, allowing end-users to reduce
infrastructure costs, provide redundancy failover, and protect
their intellectual property while remotely monitoring their
manufacturing processes and systems.
